This is the first issue with the following points: 1) there are four preliminary pages with the first being blank, 2) the word ‘that’ is spelled correctly on the first line of page 208, and 3) on the first page of ‘RECENT WORKS,’ there is a comma after ‘Portrait’ in the first entry. The rare first edition of this hard to find work; this is the first time heliotype plates were used in a publication.

The front blank endpaper is foxed on both sides, the verso of the sixth heliotype plate is lightly foxed, the entire text and all plates are bright and clean with no foxing, there is a tiny bit of bubbling to the cloth on the spine; a bright and clean copy in near fine condition.
