This work was originally issued in six separate installments from 1959-1965. Parts II and IV each consisted of two installments making a total of six (Part I, Part II - 1, Part II - 2, Part III, Part IV - 1 and Part IV - 2). In 1965 the publisher, The Siam Society, bound a limited number of the six installments into one thick volume in gilt-lettered brown cloth. This was the first and only issue by the Siam Society in a cloth binding. Much later, White Lotus books purchased a large number of the original six installments from the Siam Society and bound them in bright red cloth. The copy offered here is the original first edition issue by the Siam Society.
