This work gave him insights into the study of morphology, taxonomy, and evolution that he used when completing the “The Origin of Species” five years later. The volume is in a fine period-style binding. From the research collection of herpetologist Lauren E. Brown, with his signature dated August 26, 2009, on the front blank endpaper. Rare.
