Publisher’s original tan pebble cloth with the spine lettered in gilt and the front and rear boards with ornate blind-stamped decorations, brown clay-coated endpapers, sm 8vo. The table of contents shows coverage of many marine aquarium species including sponges, foraminifera, jelly fishes, medusa, zoophytes, sea urchins, star fish, crabs, crustaceans, prawns, barnacles, mussels and fishes. Many of these are illustrated in the fine chromolithographic plates. The author was the first professor of comparative anatomy at King’s College in London. No library marks or any ownership marks.
