Later wine red cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine (original printed tan wrappers bound in place), thick sm folio (32 x 22.5 cm). According to Adler, History of Herpetology, volume 1, p. 107: this is the first herpetological review of the amphibians of French Indochina (Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos). Inscribed by the author on the half-title page, “A Monsieur Hoffet, bia cordial louvain, R. Bourret”. Small name stamp of J.H. Hoffet, Professor of Geology, University of Hanoi on the front wrapper. Hoffet wrote numerous monographs on the geology of French Indochina. This volume is also from the research library of herpetologist Hobart M. Smith though his name stamp is not present.
