Pp. vii, 461; 41 full page plates (black-and-white photos, 1 color lithograph of pearls, many line-drawings).  Publisher’s original dark brown cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front and rear covers with blind-stamped border lines, 4to.  This is Bulletin of the United States Fish Commission, volume XIII, for 1893.  There are 47 separate papers by such notable researchers as A. N. Cheney, Bashford Dean, Barton Evermann, George Brown Goode, F. W. Herrick, George Frederick Kunz, Hugh Smith, and J. T. Wilkins.  Most papers are on fishes and fisheries though one paper is on pearls and pearl culture.  Name stamp of Oliver D. Schock of Hamburg, PA on the front blank endpaper.  No other ownership marks and no signs of use.
