Early Herpetological Papers by Edward Harrison Taylor, 1929-1937 (32 papers in total)
By Taylor, Edward H.
Pp. 300+, numerous black-and-white photos, line-drawings and maps. Contemporary black pebble cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine, gray endpapers, lg 8vo. This appears to be a complete set of all of the herpetological papers published by Edward Taylor from 1929-1937 with the single exception of his 643 page monograph on the cosmopolitan scincoid lizards of the genus Eumeces. At the end of the collected papers, there is a large section of typewritten pages (47 single-sided pages) bound in which transcripts of radio addresses given by Taylor and others, all in the promotion of herpetological awareness. There is a typewritten index at the beginning of the volume that lists all of the publications and provides cross-referenced numbers to the individual papers. The volume is from the herpetological library of Walter L. Necker with his book plate on the front endpaper. Necker’s initials appear in gilt at the bottom of the spine, so it is likely that Necker assembled this work.
