Represented are mycologists from Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Mexico, The Netherlands, and many areas of the United States. These eminent mycologists met on The University of Tennessee campus in August 1968 for a symposium to honor professor and dean emeritus L. R. Hesler on his eightieth birthyear. The symposium featured six days of invited papers, with discussion, followed by additional days devoted to field trips. This volume is from the private research collection of University of Michigan mycologist Alexander H. Smith who attended the symposium.
