Publisher’s original one-quarter dark green leather with the spine lettered in gilt, over dark green pebble cloth, clay-coated dark green endpapers, 4to. ‘Genera Filicum’ was one of the most important systematic works on the ferns. The text is by Sir William Jackson Hooker and the fine hand-colored plates are after paintings by Austrian Franz Andreas Bauer, well known as a botanical artist.
