This is the classic monograph on fossil and recent fishes by the renowned German ichthyologist Albert Gunther. In 1858 Gunther joined in the British Museum of Natural History and in 1875-1895 became director of the zoological department. It is during this period that he published ‘An Introduction to the Study of Fishes.’ Casey Wood (p. 371) calls this "A very important treatise on this general subject." No ownership marks, no internal marks or notes, and few signs of use.
