Lowe (1905-1997) was an American mycologist who specialized in the study of polypores. He retired in 1975 and became an emeritus professor. Lowe was the president of the Mycological Society of America in 1960. In the 1980s, Lowe was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease; he died in Syracuse (from Wiki). This volume is from the private research collection of University of Michigan mycologist Alexander H. Smith with his signature on the front wrapper.
