Pp. v, 201, 10 full page photo-plates. Publisher’s original dark green ribbed cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine and front cover, color pictorial dust jacket, 8vo. Beebe wrote numerous books on all aspects of natural history especially ornithology, marine biology, entomology and on travel and exploration. This work is a collection of essays about his explorations in the jungles of British Guinea. This is the sixth printing published the same year as the first printing. From the library of Jacqueline Vantel with her signature dated June 1926, New York City. Vantel was a high-end jeweler selling pearls and other jewelry. A short note from Beebe to Vantel is tipped in on the front free endpaper. That letter reads: “Dear J. – “Of course we are friends. But I am up to my ears trying to get some of the files of letter and articles written. I will let you know whenever I have breathing space. W. B.” No other ownership marks.
