Leptocephalids in the University Zoological Museum at Upsala
By Stromman, Pehr Hogo
Pp.vi, 1-53; 5 full page tinted lithographic plates. Original gray printed wrappers, lettered in black on the spine and front cover, 8vo. This is published version of a Ph. D. Dissertation that was defended on May 27th, 1896 in the Zoological Lecture Hall at the University of Upsala. The genus Leptocephalus was used for species of larval eels, called leptocephali, that were thought to be new fish species, or whose adult eel species were not known (from wiki). It is likely that this dissertation partly contributed to the resolution of this issue. This work is inscribed by the author to Dr. K. B. Winlum on the front wrapper. A later name stamp of Robert Anderson also appears on the front endpaper. Rare work.
