Publisher’s green cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine and with gilt scene of a seal on the front cover, 4to. Capt. Scammon surveyed the Northwest Coast for marine mammals especially whales. He is among the earliest to give full accounts of their habits. This is a quality facsimile reprint of this classic work that was first published in San Francisco in 1874. The work contains a long introductions to the work by Campbell Grant, John Cushing and Hugh Manessier (46 pages in total).
