Pp. 227, 110 text-figures + 1 full-page halftone plate, 21 full page color plates.  One-half dark brown leather, lettered in gilt in on the spine and with gilt panel lines, over green cloth-covered boards, matching green endpapers, 4to.  Archivos do Museu Nacional do Rio de Janeiro, volume 27.  According to Adler, “History of Herpetology”, this is Ribeiro’s “most monumental herpetological work” (pg. 88).  Ribeiro monographed the known Brazilian species of frogs and discovered many new species.  The text is in Portuguese with Latin names used throughout.  From the research collection of herpetologist Lauren Brown with his signature on the half-title page.  Rare work seldom offered.
