Publisher’s original red, green, gold or blue cloth, lettered in either black or red on the spine, original green dust jackets, lettered in white and with a different chromolithographed image of a mushroom on each front panel, 4to (11.5 x 9 inch). This is the rare first edition of this classic work by the notable French mycologist Henri Romagnesi (1912-1999). In later editions of this work the brilliant chromolithograph plates were replaced by lower quality color-printed plates. This set is from the private research collection of University of Michigan mycologist Alexander H. Smith. Each volume is warmly inscribed by the author, Henri Romagnesi, to Dr. A. H. Smith on the front endpaper or half-title page. No other ownership marks. MykoLibri 1787.
