Pp. xxii, 581, frontispiece portrait of the author’s father, 98 text-figures (line-drawings of snakes), 1 folding map of Ceylon at end, publisher's notice tipped in at the title page and two errata slips tipped in at p. 1. Publisher’s original dark blue cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine and on the upper cover with blind-stamped border lines on the covers, original floral endpapers, 8vo. According to Kraig Adler, volume 1, p. 72, this volume was Wall’s best known work. From the library of William M. Tomlinson with his attractive color bookplate on the front pastedown. No other ownership marks and almost no signs of use.
