This is Zuckerman’s classic work on primate behavior based on his field studies at the London Zoo. Zuckerman concluded that sex and aggression were the driving forces in the social life of primates. However, had Zuckerman made the same study in free-ranging primates in the wild, he would have reached a different conclusion – it was the caged condition of the primates that led to an increase in aggression and aberrant sexual behavior.
