Stone Age Africa: An Outline of Prehistory in Africa

Pp. xii, 218; color frontispiece plate, 28 text-figures (mostly line-drawings of stone tools), 13 black-and-white photo-plates, foldout map of Africa at the rear.  Publisher’s original tan cloth, lettered in red on the spine, 12mo.  This is the first edition of Louis Leakey’s first book on African prehistory.  This small volume is from private research library of paleoanthropologist Theodore D. McCown who was Professor of Anthropology at the University of California at Berkeley from 1938 to 1969.  McCown’s custom-made bookplate and ink name-stamp appear on the facing front endpapers.  No other ownership marks and no ex-library marks.
