Pp. vii, 266; 31 full-page black-and-white plates, 22 distribution maps, 10 text-figures.  One-half black leather over marbled boards with matching marbled endpapers, spine with five raised bands titled in gilt in one compartment, sm 4to.  The scarce first edition of this important work in a fine leather binding.  Gloyd's monograph is still an indispensable basic work on rattlesnakes today.  The work is based on Gloyd's dissertation from 1937 and was published in an edition of only 1600 copies, which was quickly sold out.  No ownership marks.
