Pp. xxii, 421, (6); pp. xliii, 779, some text-figures.  Recent three-quarter black leather over marbled boards, yellow endpapers, lg 8vo.  These two volumes provide the complete inventory of the human and non-human mammals housed in the Museum of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.  The work catalogues over 5000 specimens with detailed observations noted.  Part I is the second edition, greatly enlarged over the first edition published in 1879.  These two volumes are seldom offered as a set.  A rare work uniformly bound in black leather over marble boards.  Both volumes are presentation copies from the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England to the Royal Institution of Great Britain, stamped on the title page of each volume.  Also from the research collection of marine vertebrate paleontologist Edward D. Mitchell with his signature on the title page of each volume.  Rare work.
