From the series: Beihefte zur Nova Hedwigia, heft 18. Stipitate stereoid fungi are Basidiomycetes with a stipe, a spathulate-to funnel-shaped pileus, a smooth hymenophore, and hyaline, smooth spores. Stereopsis vitellina falls within the Atheliales, making it the first pileus- and stipe-forming fungus recovered in this order (from Wiki). This volume is from the private collection of University of Michigan mycologist Alexander H. Smith. The base of the spine bears the name “A. H. Smith.” Rare monograph.
