Contemporary one-half black leather over marbled boards, spine with five raised bands with red leather label in one compartment lettered in gilt and with black leather label in another compartment lettered in gilt, original orange endpapers, lg 8vo. Presents accounts of the nesting habits of British birds, with colored plates of nests and eggs (Zimmer, Ayer page 443). Mullins and Swann (p. 417) states that the earlier editions of this work are far superior in coloring to later printings. As this is the first printing, the coloring is bright and distinct.
