Pp. vi, 195; 10 full page tinted lithographed plates each with a descriptive leaf of text, 59 text figures (line-drawings).  Later wine-red cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine (original printed orange wrappers bound in place), folio (14 x 11.75 inches; 35.5 x 27 cm).  This major monograph describes the ontogeny of the Adder, Pelias berus.  Only part 1 of this monograph was published.  No ownership marks and no signs of use.
