This authoritative work is the earliest monographic treatment of the Lepidoptera of Madagascar. Part 1 covers Rhopalocera, Heterocera: Sphinges et Bombyces and Part 2 covers Heterocera: Noctuae, Geometrae and Microlepidoptera. Many species new to science are described here. Small rectangular stamp of Universität Basel at the top margin of the title page, no other ownership marks and no signs of use. Very scarce.
