Hand-colored lithographic plate, 9 inches wide and 11.75 inches long. From G. Edwards, A Natural History of Uncommon Birds, part III, plate 108, 1750. Edwards describes the bird as being from Bengali in the East Indies and was part of a rarities collection sent to Dr. Mead in 1748. Edwards believed that this hawk had been trained for hunting.
