This is the first work to review the entire reptilian fauna of the Indian continent (includes Afghanistan, Tibet, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam and China). Originally published in folio format in 1864 by the Ray Society of London, this is the octavo size 1982 Indian reprint. The plates in this reprint are greatly reduced in size and poorly reproduced from the original edition. The chief benefit of this volume is that it provides a usable reprint of a rare first edition that is nearly impossible to obtain.
