VII): (v), 287, 9 full page lithographic plates mostly of fossil shells, 1 very large foldout map of island Southeast Asia.  Early one-quarter vellum over brown marbled boards, spine is lettered in black ink, lg 8vo.  This early series presents the geology and paleontology of island Southeast Asia, especially Java, Borneo, Celebes, Timor, Sumatra, Moluccas and Japan.  Each volume contains one or more monographs on the geology and paleontology of the region.  The text is mostly in German or Dutch.  There are no ownership marks.  This series was later continued under the name “Leidsche geologische mededelingen” in 1925.  Rare work seldom offered as a set.
