This set documents the second voyage of the intrepid French traveler, Le Vaillant, from Cape Town up the western coast reaching and crossing the Orange River into Namibia. This feat, long disputed, was later proven to be true. A noteworthy account of early travel into Namaqualand, Namibia, Damaraland, Bechuanaland and the Kalahari Desert. Many of the engraved plates depict the unusual mammals species encountered as well as the native people Le Vaillant met.
