Pp. 103, 1 color frontis plate from a painting by Louis Agassiz Fuertes, 11 full page black and white photographic plates, 3 text-figures. Early black cloth, lettered in gilt on the spine, lg 4to. Memoirs of the Boston Society of Natural History volume 6, no. 4. A detailed monograph on the “greater prairie chicken” that became extinct in 1931. The final sighting was on the island of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts. From the research collection of naturalist and conservationist Durward L. Allen (1910-1997) with his bold signature on the front endpaper. Under the signature is the statement “A gift from the Welder Wildlife Foundation Library.” No other ownership marks.
