Pp. x, 587, (1), 2 engraved vignettes on titles, 8 engraved plates, (1 hand-colored), including a folding frontispiece view of Selborne.  Publisher’s original full antique leather, spine with five raised bands with black leather gilt-title label in one compartment, repeated gilt designs in the other five compartments, marbled page edges with matching marbled endpapers, 4to. This is one of the most important and complete editions, the text is the corrected text from the first edition. This is sometimes referred to as Mitford’s edition.  Armorial bookplate of Joseph Webster with his inscription to his son attached to the front endpaper.  The volume is rebacked with original spine leather attached.  Rare work.
